March 12th

Back in Time

Pick a historical person from any time period and write in their POV. Example: What would you do with your power? Would you chose to be a great King or a famous general? It’s all up to you.

Example:
Today is my eighteenth name day and I will become one of the most powerful women in all of Europe. If it were not for Mary de Guise and Mary Stuart, I would be the most powerful woman in all of Europe. But they still hold on to Scotland with all their power. Unlike my sister, I will be a queen of the ages. I will take Scotland from the Stuart false Queen and show everyone who is to be feared. I will rule my country with the passions and will my father had and with the cunning wits my mother possessed until her last day. I will show all of the one’s who doubted me that I will not end up a fool in the life of the English court.
The bells ring loud and tell me that it is the time. I stand and the great weight of my dress and cloak pulling me down. The white and black ermine fur warms my neck for the draft in the room is strong. My ladies reach for my gown and we are on our way down to the great hallway to the church.

Michaela Hutchinson:
One step
One leap
To a place no man has ever been before
But now there is me
Here
On the dusty white surface
Surrounded by a cloak of black
Dotted with fireballs burning themselves up
And home, steadily going nowhere
And everywhere all at once

This moment is one of history
But its weight is almost lost in gravity
In floating bliss
In unbelievability

I have no doubt that more will come
That I will not be the only one to walk this surface
But for now there is only me
And for that
I will be here forever

Chenoa Jackson

Dearest Martha,

They asked me to become their King. We just finished fighting a war so we wouldn’t be under the control of one. No one should have unlimited control over others. We don’t need a king we just need a leader. One that the people will look up to but also not think of as a supreme ruler.
Sure I lead them in battle. We achieved victory in the end. Now they credit me with being a great leader. Have I ever thought of being anything more than a general? I don’t think so.
They turn to me for leadership asking me to be their king. That is one thing I will never be. I can not be what I have just fought to get rid of. If they feel like I can lead them, then I will do my best to help this new nation to grow. I have been voted unanimously to be the new leader. I can’t wrap my head around this new responsibility.
(As I prepare to take my oath to my new office I have been considering. King is too powerful for one person. I believe that … President will do better for this nation. Thats it, Mr. President. Has a nice ring to it. As president I promise you that I will strive for the bettering and well being of the people of this nation. The power will go to the people and I won’t hold all the power in my hands. It will be spread throughout the nation and we shall start a new life as the United States of America.)

Your loving Husband,
